We have thought of all the basics, but this is the first time we have gone with children! What more unusual things are we likely to forget?

a few heavy/warm outfits and some extra blankets no matter how warm it is during the day kids get cold at night
any drinks should be in bottles, stay away from anything with open tops or straws (bring bottles with the pop type caps or just screw on caps to pour drinks into)
    a couple decks of cards
some travel games (they have travel versions of most popular board games)
a flashlight and extra batteries for each kid plus a couple extras
    easy to eat snacks
    marshmallows (and stuff for smores)
if you don’t have air beds you might want to invest in some sleeping pads (sold in the sporting section of walmart/Kmart etc)
    tissues
baby wipes and lots of them
    hand sanitizer
    sun block
    bug spray
    ponchos/umbrellas
lots of socks (figure out how many you think you need and double it)
a couple of pairs of extra shoes
    a clothes line
    some allergy meds (claritin/benadril)
    first aid kit
    chairs
    table cloth
    bubbles

Er, I’ll just have to guess at what your "basics" are.
I’ve been in the military for a few years os naturally, I’ve picked up a few pointers from the field.
I have kids, too. When we go camping we bring:

    -baby wipes (a MUST have)
    -4 jugs of water
-at least 2 cans of bug spray
    -garbage bags (for trash clean-up)
-pogie bait (beef jerky, dried fruit)
    -towels
    -extra socks
    -coloring book and crayons
-emergency kit (for bee stings, poison oak, etc)
    -cell phone car charger
-an entreching tool or spade for waste disposal
-a few pochos in case of rain
-zip lock baggies for leftover food

Hope some of those items help!

I’ve camped with kids and some things that were helpful were
letting the kids have their own flashlights, a flyswatter, and a fan for inside the tent. Bikes or some outdoor game is helpful too, like badmitton or frisbee.
