Looking for a bike camp for my daughter that has Down Syndrome?
Or where can I buy a bike that is used to teach children with disabilities how to ride?
I just got a phone call from ARC today to see if she was coming to the summer program..When I call them back I will ask them about a bike camp….

Go to http://www.altonweb.com/cs/downsyndrome/index.htm
will come to Riverbend DS Group
Scroll down titles to sports and fitness and it will tell you about bikes etc.
A full size bike with custom training wheels is nice. We got one for our neighbor for about 300 dollars, the training wheels that is.
Some ARCs have bike training. Some bike clubs love to help new riders. My son (who has Ds) was a part of a typical bike club for many years – he began by riding a tandem bike. He never needed training wheels – went straight from a tandem to a 2 wheeler.
I found that my son could not ride a trike. The pushing forward motion needed he could not do. He also has trouble with a recumbent bike for the same reason.
